What Do I Write?

On Tuesday I asked y'all what I write. I wanted to see if anyone knew what genre and topic I write. Some people got the genre which is Adult Paranormal Romance. No one got the topic...

First off, let me tell you the answer to that: My completed MS, titled CREATED WITH LOVE (which I'd like to be book one of a series), is about vampires. My WIP, titled UNBIND ME (which I'd also like to be book one of a series), is about shape-shifters. Actually, more specifically, it's about rugarus, puca, fairies, and demons. (Anyone surprised by this/not expecting that to be the answer?)

Now, let me tell you what made me ask: I know many people broadcast what they write, which is good. It helps them make a name for themselves before they publish. It's branding and I have apparently been sucking at it. I know I do. I mean, how often do I post about vampires, shape-shifters, or fairies? Never really.

So, I've decided to rework my blog schedule to fit in posts relating to my genre and the topics I write about. I'm not sure what I will do or what will change, but I'll post about it once I've got it figured out.

Thanks to anyone who gave it a shot or just commented to tell me they don't know. And thanks Kendra and Cat for not giving the answer away since you both already know what I write. <3

I hope everyone has an awesome weekend.

Happy Saturday! :)

Paranormal romance doesn't surprise me at all. It's a fun category and it fits you :)

I've recently started talking more about my genre on my blog as well. That branding has to start somewhere! :)

I need to start doing something similar for myself as well.

Are they adult or young adult books? (Because that was my only guess.)
You can also theme your blog more to your genre, like my science fiction Matrix-style background.

HEY! I knew as well! I just did paranormal romance because that's what both of your MS's are about! X(

Jemi-You write romance of some sort as well, right?

EB- Yeah, it's tough to get out there and brand, tough in a sense of how to go about it exactly. I have no clue what I'll be doing, but it's definitely not a bad idea to start now. :)

Alex- Adult. And yeah, a friend of mine said something about my blog looking all nice, pretty, and relaxing. Which, not that it can't fit my 'creatures' since they're nice and not evil, but idk. I should work on that.

SC-I know you got the genre right and I would hope so. I said some people said the right genre. I also thanked Cat and Kendra for not giving it away, so-I wouldn't have wanted you to say what exactly I write about since you already know. :p

I'll be watching to see how you do this. I'm equally lost with how to give myself an online voice that represents my writing.

One thing I've seen on other author blogs that you might consider are individual tabs for each of your works and WIPs. It's helped me identify genre and writing style pretty quickly. I've seen summaries, query letters, even just first lines... something to tantalize.

Good luck!

I feel like I need to do more of that, too, though I'm pleased with the "look" of my blog and feel it gives the flavor of my style of writing, if not necessarily my genre...
