Influence the people around you, those that buy your books or read you blog.

Notice that they're coming to you, curiously hoping for something interesting to read.

Take the time to create something fun.

Remember to write what you like, but do it in a way that won't bore your online friends.

It's important to realize and keep in mind what brings you to their attention.

Give and be generous, courteous-write words that make them excited to come back for more another day.

Use your personality, resources, knowledge.

Especially make sure to remember that your online friends are there for you, be there for them by giving them something worth their time.

People read our books and our blogs, they follow us and are loyal. Our online friends are there for us, so make sure to give them something that keeps them interested-if not, what's going to keep them coming back? What will keep them loyal?

Homework

Yep, it's another to do. I know there will be some of you who this doesn't relate to, but I also know there are many who have kids or go to school themselves (or both).

Homework Honestly Hasn't Happened Happily Here

Homework


Whether it's homework for you, your kids, or both-homework can be a challenge to knock off of the to do. Even my five year old hates doing homework. Some things that help get it done.

Homework is best tackled right after school (maybe right after school, after snack-I know my kids are starving when they get home), when there hasn't been time to get out of school-mode and into I'm-at-home-and-want-to-do-anything-that-doesn't-involve-school-mode. Plus, if you do homework right when you get home, it's done and out of the way and you get the remainder of the evening to do whatever.

Another thing that works is finding ways to make it fun. Find something around the house to incorporate into the homework process.

Finally, if you have kids (or even nieces or nephews that your helping do homework), make sure you at least appear to be enjoying the homework. If kids see adults looking like they despise doing the work, they will despise it too. I have always been that kid who thinks homework is fun all the time, but I know there are a lot of people who don't think so.

BTW-finding ways to make it fun AND tackling homework immediately is directed at the adults who are in school as well. It's easy to get caught up in the relief that you're at home and done with your school day, but your 'home time' is much more relaxing if your 'homework time' is out of the way.

Happy Easter!

Normally today would be a Something Sunday post, but I can't do that. I know I have followers of various beliefs and whatnot, so forgive me if you don't like to read the religious stuff.

I've said it before, but for anyone new-I'm Episcopal and I 100% believe in the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. I say this because...

Today is Jesus' day, who am I to take away from that by posting a recommendation to someone's site, or an awesome book, or someone else other than Jesus? I just can't do that.

Since I am not that religious person who thinks everyone who isn't religious (or even just people who aren't MY religion), should be-I can't push my beliefs on anyone, that's just not who I am. Therefore, I'm not 'recommending' that you celebrate Easter as a religious day. But, it is a religious day for me, and that is why I'm not posting a normal Something Sunday.

BTW-it's not strictly religious for us. We talk about what Easter means in terms of the religious aspect. But we also have an Easter dinner, my kids hunt eggs and they get candy from the Easter Bunny. So, I'm not saying that we only focus on the religious side of it, just that I acknowledge it is a religious holiday.

Anyway, I hope everyone has an awesome day, regardless of how you celebrate.

Going, Going, Gone

For a nice change, this week was not so crazy. Kids are still a bit wild...okay, a lot wild, BUT the week was still pretty goo overall.

Going

Intersession is over and my daughters are excited to be back at school. Mommy is too! I've had time to get the house back in order, for the most part. I've gotten to visit a ton of awesome blogs that are participating in the A to Z Challenge. And I've made progress in my writing/editing.

Going

My revisions are running so much smoother this week. I've managed to revise six chapters. Compared to the one or two a week, that's pretty darn good. Plus, I've been working on my WIP and the ideas just keep coming.

Gone

Lent has come to an end. Tomorrow is Easter and while it took the entire forty days, I've (almost) overcome my procrastination. Since I planned on giving up procrastination for Lent, it's a little sad that it took the entire time to finally accomplish that task, but I'm happy I did it-better late than never, right?

Overall this week was a pretty good start to April. Looking forward to another exciting week next week.

Fantasy

(Since I would normally leave my Friday open to give more light to my awesome Thursday TAG!-if you haven't, please check out my Q&A with the Fabulous-E.M. Labonte.)

My Friday semi-theme is going to be about a genre I enjoy. I read every genre, but Fantasy is my absolute favorite. I know that many people think of 'High Fantasy' or 'Epic' novels in association with this genre, but it's more than that. Dystopian, Paranormal and Urban, even Sci-Fi (in some aspects) are all capable of being in this category. For me. when I think Fantasy I think anything fantastical and magical, anything that isn't really real. Faeries, vampires, weres and shifters, angels, demons, dragons, witches, wizards, elves and so many more. Reading is imaginative, so why not read about something that takes you to a different reality?

Fantasy: Fantastically Fun Fiction

Find yourself on a journey into a world that doesn't exist.
And take your mind to a place where the impossible is really possible.
Normal is people doing things that can't be real.
The ideas are true as you go page by page.
Animals are humans and no one is what they seem.
Supernatural things are more natural than they are 'supposed' to be.
You find yourself somewhere that is full of wonder and adventure.
