Review: Become by Ali Cross

Five Stars to BECOME by Ali Cross

This book was a (surprise) win from NiNoCon. When I entered the contest it was a Become swag pack, but the book (and is that not a fabulous cover!?!) wasn't a part of my win at first. Ali is one of the most awesome people I've met (on or off-line) and she's one of those authors that writes awesomeness and is still a sweetheart. That author you LOVE who you meet and you're like, wow-she's genuine and nice...real.

Needless to say, I was super excited to read it and it went beyond my expectations. Make sure you add this book to your TBR if you haven't, it's worth it. Check Ali out at her website, you can read her TAG! here, she's also a member of the Indelibles, and the Sensei at Ninjas Write. Check her out, she's AWESOME!!!

Desolation Black is a special kind of girl, being the daughter of Lucifer and having lived in Hell for most of her life. She's awkward and unsure and super likeable. As I went through page after page of this unique take on Angels vs Demons, I loved Desi more and more. Each time I had to put the book down was saddening because I just wanted to read, read, read.

This is another book I hate to give spoilers on, but if you realllllly want it, go ahead and click read more. Though I really think you should just go read it.

UGH, you clicked read more? Fine, fine...

Desolation AKA Desi Black is a normal, okay, not so normal, sixteen year old living in Hell with her father...Satan himself. She would rather stay in Hell where it's lonely, cold, and everything she's used to. Her father has other plans and sends her to Earth where she's supposed to live like a normal teenager, well, that's what she thinks. Her father sends her a message about a girl who is planning to commit suicide and Desi is supposed to help condemn her to an afterlife in Hell.

Desi is not very sociable, but she ends up with a few good friends. Of course, she fears that they are doomed to spend their afterlife in Hell because they're friends with the Devil's daughter. She soon learns that not only is that untrue, but she's meant to help fight a battle between good and evil.

I have to say UGH again, I'm sorry anyone who would like to read more spoilers, I just can't. I've already given too much without giving much at all. I mean, really, I was all over the place. Sorry, I just hate to spoil a good book.

Ali Cross took a mythological and not so typical take on the age old Angels vs. Demons, Good vs Evil, Heaven vs Hell and she did it well. This was a page turner to the end and I can't wait for the next book in this series---and I mean CAN'T WAIT. Though I have to since it's not out yet, but I'm anxiously biting my nails in anticipation of DESOLATION, book 2.

Now, go read the book! :)

Wow! Thank you so much Kela! I am humbled by all your kind words. I've loved meeting you and every single interaction with you has been a happy one! And thank you for loving Desi. She's a twisty sort of girl, but I'm glad she has found a friend in you! ((hugs))
