Today I bring to your attention...

Writer, dragon lover, and overall awesome woman, E.M. LaBonte.

I mention her because she's been working at getting her author page 'like's up there and she wants to hit 400. I think she needs more than 400 because she's awesome enough that she should have more. She's one of the main people who posts things that jump out at me every day on Facebook. A hard worker, good writer, a kind friend, and great mom. Can't wait to see her published, she really deserves it for all the hard work she puts into everything.

Mention Monday Mashup

Usually when I figure out what to post for Mention Monday, it just sorta comes to me. This time, I couldn't really pin point what I wanted to mention. So, I decided to do something I don't normally do...

I'm going to mention some non-writerly people. They're writers in their own way, but not authors exactly. Also, I know of them because of YouTube, so while they do write, they also vlog. And the vlogging is a main thing. I know a lot of people who follow my blog are writers, so forgive me if y'all don't want to hear about YouTubers. These are some people who either make me laugh, sing lovely, produce awesomely, and all (or close to) the above.

First there's Shane Dawson. I honestly couldn't tell you exactly what it is that makes me want to watch every video his posts, but I do, every time. He actually recently made an announcement that he sold a TV show idea to NBC, so that's pretty awesome. He's got a couple YT channels, so click his name and check him out.(His other YT channel is here)

Now I'm going to group a few people together here because they're all wonderful singers. I love pulling up their YT channels and listening to their covers of songs and then I go buy their songs on Amazon. They all sing lovely and it's inspirational for me...Andrew Garcia, Chester See, Andy Lange, and Josh Golden.

Okay, now this guy I'm about to mention may not be to everyone's taste. If it's not something you like, sorry I suggested you check him out, but still do because you may like him as much as I do. The name is Bart Baker. He does parodies and they make me laugh every time. They're actually pretty catchy too. I love wandering over to his YT channel each Sunday to see what new thing he's got for me.

I'm throwing NigaHiga in here. He's got over 10 million subscribers, so there's a chance some of you all already know of him and watch his videos, but just in case I wanted to mention him. He posts some pretty entertaining videos.

Last, but not least, there's Goopery(AKA Luke Twomey). I found him once when I was looking for Irish accents. And I love his accent, it's very inspirational for me since I've got a lot of Irish characters in my stories. But that aside, he's funny and he says what he says and doesn't give a crap. I like that. He doesn't post regularly, but he does post when he can and you should check him out.

Mention Monday Is (Not) Going Thru Hell ;)

I vaguely remember the moment I 'met' this person. If memory serves me right (which, we all know it does not do most of the time...) it was on Twitter. I'm fairly certain I said something about where I live and she replied something about how she'd just moved from here. The back and forth on Twitter was extremely short lived, maybe five messages tops, but I've thought of her as a friend ever since. (Maybe I'm a weirdo creepy stalker-like person who has made up this sorta-friendship that's not real at all...) Oh well, I can handle that. :P

Anyway, now she's self-pubbed and out and about all over social networks so much that I felt I needed to put her awesomeness out in the open for anyone who doesn't know her...

So, today's Mention Monday is all about author/editor, T.J. Loveless. When she's not working as an editor, or plotting out new ideas for her characters that are probably lovingly (or not so lovingly ;P ) abused quite frequently, she's (from what I see) a wonderful, loving mother and wife (to a pretty awesome daughter and hubby as well, from what I've seen on FB). TJ works her butt off and whether it's true or not, she appears to keep her shit together very well.

One I decided to make her my mention today, I realized just how much I admire her. TJ finds time to help other writers, work on current editing jobs, check out blogs, write blogs, write books, publish, guest blog, promote her books as well as fellow authors, check and reply to people on Facebook and Twitter, all while being a wonderful friend to many online people she does or doesn't really know...But what makes her truly awesome is, she does all of that while being a mother and wife, two very demanding jobs alone.

She does all of the above and does it with a smile (most of the time). She's exceptional and very deserving of a mention.

The Resurrection of Mention Monday

I'm back...yay!

So, I've been trying to get my crap together (as you all pretty much know) and I figured I should get my blog back up and running properly to help aid my recovery.

My new schedule is made up (click here if you'd like to read my bloggy plans.) There are some changes and some things the same. Mondays are the same and I've got the perfect way to bring back my Mention Mondays.

As most of my followers are Insecure Writer's Support Group members, this isn't news, but I have to mention the IWSG website and Facebook for my first step back into blogging (more often). If it weren't for Alex and all the other wonderful writers from the IWSG, I probably would've let my blog go. If I let my blog go completely, it'd be gone. Without my blog, my motivation would be lost. And without any sort of motivation, I'd be lost.

I know it's odd that I can say that since I go so long without really posting anything, but it's true. My blogging keeps me tied into my online friends. Tweets get lost in the several other tweets of the more frequent tweeters. FB posts end up getting mingled with the more typical inspirational, funny, or even serious pictures/quotes/articles. The real interaction keeps going best when you've got a blog, posts, and followers who come and talk to you in the comments. (For me at least.)

I'm going to be better at showing how much I truly appreciate you all who come by to see me. Because I honestly do appreciate every comment.

Wait, I'm getting a little off subject here...

Today's mention is for the IWSG because the group is full of awesome people and it's hosted by doubly awesome people. Alex Cavanaugh and all the others who help w/ the new site and FB page are truly wonderful and it's because of them that I haven't totally become- 'I wonder whatever happened to that Kela person...'

It's Time to Get Back to Mention Mondays

Since I still haven't quite gotten my crap together to be ready to post better, I've decided to use a few days to mention some people that I haven't talked about in a while. I feel bad not posting my Mention Mondays and there are so many people I think everyone should know. (I also figured what better time than after Friday's awesome post. :D ) I'll be spending this week and next mentioning a few awesome peeps. (Mon/Wed/Fri)

So today it's all about the fantastically awesome woman who is in the social media scenes big time-Jean Oram. She is a writer, handing out writerly advice and helping hands/eyes/etc to all writers, all while working on her own writerly things. But that's not all she does, she also runs a website dedicated to kids play, all while posting fun ideas to get kids active, independent, and for people to just get involved with making sure the kids in their life are happy and having fun.

Wait, that's not it...Jean is also SUPER Mod over at Agent Query Connect. Yep, she finds time between all the other amazingly awesome things she does, to be even more amazingly awesome. She volunteers as super mod. Helping other writers and helping to keep the site in order.

One last thing, she does all of this amazing stuff while taking care of two kids, one being a toddler...

Yes, that's right, this woman is AMAZINGLY AWESOME. (In case you didn't get that yet :P ) She's one of the best people I've met since diving into the writerly world and I'm so happy to know her. I've learned a lot from her, things that help my writing, things that help keep my kids entertained, and even that there are people out there who can be so fantastic and still so giving and thoughtful.

Mention Monday - Awesome Peeps

So, there are some people who deserve a shout out just because. These people comment on my blog all the time-regardless if I can make it to theirs or not, tweet about my blog and retweet my tweets, and they #FollowFriday me quite often. They are awesome peeps who deserve to be mentioned, they deserve recognition.

First up, because I suppose it's possible that someone does not know this awesome guy, Alex J Cavanaugh. Blogger, author of CassaStar and CassaFire, and all around great person.

Next up is an awesome woman who is making a name for herself not only in the parenting world, but the writer world also. Jean Oram is the wonderful woman behind the awesome Kid's Play site, she's got a story coming out in an anthology soon, and she's super mod over at AQC. Jean can be found in so many places so, click here for the links.

E.M. LaBonte is a writer, blogger, and such an awesome chick. She mentions people all the time, does shout outs constantly, and she's just so sweet and too kind.

Jacqueline Gardner is the author of a few awesome books (links: here, here, and here) and she's just released her latest along with a GIVEAWAY-Woot! Go check her out and look her books up, I'm a big fan and I definitely recommend them.

Caterina Torres is a blogger (and she's finally enabled comments on her blog-woot!), author of Zombie Whisperer-a book that puts a bit of a spin on your average zombies and all without the major gore, and she's an overall genuinely sweet and awesome lady.

Mention Monday - Brighton Luke, American Dreamsicle, and a Guest Post

Hey, hey...I've got a special Mention Monday for you. :)

(EDIT: First off, I've got my first guest blog post today over at SC Write - Writing, Publishing, and Harry Potter. I'm not sure the time it will go up, but be sure to check it out. :D )

The awesome Brighton Luke has a Kickstarter thing happening right now. Kickstarter is a website that people use to get donated money that is used toward a project they'd like to complete. For this one, it's a movie Brighton and his crew would like to make happen.

I think the idea behind the film is interesting and I'd donate if possible, unfortunately I'm not able to. That is why I'm making this post. If you could check it out and give if possible, that'd be awesome. If not, then I'm hoping you can at least help spread the word.

This Kickstarter project will be going until August 8. Please check it out.

Mention Monday - Book Releases and More

I have quite a few mentions for today...

One, for anyone who does not know it yet...The AWESOME Ali Cross just released her second book in the Desolation Series. AND to make this even more awesome? I'm having a GIVEAWAY!!! Another announcement of sorts for myself...I've signed up for a blogfest hosted by the awesome ladies over at Falling For Fiction. The fest is called Hookers and Hangers-things like this title is part of what makes that group of ladies so awesome. (The little picture there on the left-perhaps you may need to scroll down a little-will send you to the linky list if you'd like to sign up). On next Monday (July 16) I'll be posting my 'hookers'-The first sentence of each chapter from my MS, CREATED: WITH LOVE. And then, on Wednesday (July 18), I'll post my 'hangers'-The last sentence of each chapter. It's exciting, so come back by next week and check it out. :)

Mention Monday - Catching Up

First things first, I realized in all of my busy-ness, I forgot something on Friday...I signed up for a blogfest that I should've posted about on Friday, June 29. EEEP! I can't believe I forgot, omg. Oh well, it has gone and I can't do anything about forgetting it. I can however, tell you about it...

I was on a blog that mentioned a blogfest hosted by author Christine Fonseca. On Friday, Christine revealed the cover of her upcoming book, Transcend. I was supposed to write a post revealing something 'secret' about myself. Want to know a secret?

Somewhere in the last few weeks, I've become unfocused. I can't seem to accomplish much of anything. I'm running around crazy trying to get things done-caught up-yet I can't keep focused on my tasks. I'm usually great with my to do lists. These past few weeks though, I haven' been. I'm not sure what it is. I have been struggling to get to sleep at night, so that's probably part of the problem. I'm getting better, but it's still not quite there. Hopefully this week I'll get it together though.

I know that wasn't some huge secret, but oh well. I missed the fest anyway, so...

Mention Monday - C.K. Bryant

First off, there wasn't a week wrap up this past Saturday because I didn't really have much to say. But at least it gave my Thursday TAG! w/ DC Rich some extra screen time, so that's a positive.

Anyway, today I'm shouting out someone who is particualarily full of all kinds of AWESOME! She's so sweet and an awesome writer. Her first book, BOUND, as made it into my top books of 2012 as well as top of all time. I have the second book in the series, BROKEN, on my TBR and it's a special case so it gets to move to the top of the TBR list.

I won her first book during NaNoWrimo, an online writer conference from Ninjas Write. I read it fast and loved every bit. You can check out my review of BOUND, right here. Plus, it's FREE on Amazon right now. :D

Christine is an Indie author who is a member of the Indelibles. Aside from her full books, you can read a short story by her in the In His Eyes Anthology. Mention Monday - A Few Newly Agented

Oh-yeah, that's a title we all (writers) at some point aspire to have, right? Well, most of us at least. (And note, I said at some point. I'm not talking down about Indie or Self-Pubbing). I just happen to know of quite a few people who have been having a wee bit of success over at my favorite site-AQC. What's that? You still haven't been to this awesomely wonderful site yet? Do you see what good comes from this site?!? Oh wait....I haven't really told you yet, my bad. :D

Over at that site there have been numerous people over the last few months who have either landed an agent or publishing deal. It's AWESOME!!!! And these people are such wonderful and deserving people that I thought they should have a Mention Monday spot.

I'm just going to hit on this year:

Beginning in January the amazing and awesome Lori Sjoberg (her TAG! is here if you missed it) got a two book publishing deal for her awesomely awesome reaper series. Then the wonderful S.K. Keogh signed a publication deal for her historical novel (technically she was offered the deal before Christmas, but it was January when she signed ;)   And then the freaking fantastically awesomeness that is Robert K Lewis (thrownbones over at AQC) signed a two book deal. Then came a book deal for Terri Bruce (see TAG! here) and Michelle Reed (Michelle_in_WI on AQC) (who was mentioned in Publisher's Weekly ;)  And someone who's story (especially the characters) I happen to love...someone who went through tons of rejections with numerous things being said that made the hopes of ever seeing the book in print seem like slim to none...Jayne Denker (her TAG! is here) landed an agent.

Don F (bigdonf on AQC) signed with a publisher. Stephanie Diaz landed an agent (her query had 26 partial/full requests (most of them fulls) and FOUR offers of representation. Then Precy Larkins (AKA Cherie) landed an agent from a query that had NINE full requests and an offer). ALBrock just landed an agent. And then the news that made me say, "I HAVE to mention all the AWESOMENESS of my fellow AQCers!!!".....The sweetheart and so smart and so wonderfully AWESOME RC Lewis landed an agent from a query that got ELEVEN fulls and FIVE offers!!!!! WOOOOOOT to all my fellow AQCers, you are all full of all kinds of AWESOME!!!

Take a moment to stop by and congratulate some of these awesome people. Some of them went through times where they were done and ready to completely throw in the towel. Some of them kept at it for 8+ years, struggling and feeling like nothing would ever happen. Some of them are young (Stephanie) and some of them are pregnant (and/or were pregnant at some point(s) and I can say that's not an easy time). Many (if not all of them) spend their days working hard at regular jobs (or attending school) and yet they still managed. They're all such wonderful people and I'm so HAPPY for them.

(Nobody else take offense please, I do know that all of my wonderful online friends work so hard for what they've accomplished and what they're working to accomplish.)

Mention Monday

So I had several things that came to mind for my shout out today. I was ready to mention this one blog. Then I thought of a couple sites. Then there were a few books. And then it was one book that made me KNOW what today's post should be about.

Karen Amanda Hooper

I read Grasping At Eternity by Karen Hooper this past weekend and it was OH SO GOOD! As soon as I finished it, I knew I had to shout out Karen in this post. I have a review coming Wednesday, so I'm not going to get into the awesomeness that is Grasping At Eternity. What I will say is this:

Karen is one of the best authors I've read in a LONG time. I'm not sure that she realizes her awesomeness, but she is very awesome. Not just as a writer either. She's an awesome, genuinely sweet person. She's humble and down to earth. She gives without thought and she listens, talks, connects. I don't know her know her, but every interaction I've had with her has been wonderful.

Not only does she take the time to interact with her readers, fans, other writers, friends; she does it all while being a fabulous writer. She stays humble through it all. All the positive feedback and all of the five and four star ratings of her books and she still graciously takes the compliment. She takes them to heart, cherishes them, appreciates them, and never lets it get to her head. It's rare to find someone who's books are so fantastic, who writes so well, and still manages to take compliments without their ego becoming inflated.

I could keep going on about how wonderful she is, but it would possibly get repetitive and even if I didn't repeat myself I think what I've said tells enough for you to see how great she is.
