One (or a few) A Day...

I've been working out ways I can get myself to be more productive and also more out there in the online world (blogging, reading blogs, tweeting/posting on FB/pinterest/etc) and I've decided to have a challenge for myself this month.

It will be called the: One of Each a Day Challenge...

Stupid titled, but that's okay. Plan is, visit a blog each day. Leave a comment on said blog. Promote something on Twitter and/or a social media of my choice(Examples of promoting are: a book release, book sale, cover reveal, some other sort of announcement, a blog post, or things of that sort-or other promotional type things). And post on any two of my sites daily. (I've got Twitter, Facebook, my blog, Pinterest, Google +, Tumblr, and Instagram)(With all those I shouldn't have a problem posting something...aside from how little I've even ever posted on a few of them. :/ )

This will be my only Tuesday post for now. I didn't plan on having Tuesday posts, but I forgot to post this yesterday so I'm just going with it. I mean, really, I should've posted it last week, but oh well. I'm a few days late on the whole first of the month thing, but I'll make up for it.

And that's that, guess we'll see how this turns out. Have a great day. See you tomorrow for a new Insecure Writer's Support Group post. :)

Anything happening this month that you'd like people to know about? Got a blog post you'd like me to promote or maybe a book release? Hell, want some new Twitter followers or some more blog traffic? Just let me know in the comments and I'll spread the word.

Thoughtful Tuesday - Dream

Dreaming is so important. Whether it's having an actual dream while you're sleeping, day dreaming while you're awake, or having a dream of one day doing something specific (or somethings). I teach my kids to dream, to believe in something. I encourage them daily to imagine things and play and know that dreaming is simply your imagination at work, expanding and preparing for something great.

Being a writer is all about dreaming. It's what we do. We imagine things that are impossible and make them happen in books, chapters, paragraphs...words. We dream of words. Things that are so impossible to a non-writer, but there real for us. And our dreams are so important because we give those non-writer people something to dream about.

I'm not saying that our stories alone give people dreams, but that stories are one of the things that do. We bend reality to our will and lead a reader into the impossible and we do it in a way that makes them believe. That's our job and it's a tough job.

Tough because we have personal dreams that go along with the leading. We must first get our words out there for people to read. And so we dream of the day when that will happen. From ideas, to WIPs, to MSs, and then to published novel. It's a rough journey and one that takes a lot of dreaming. I dream constantly of the day my name will be in print. And yes, I believe in that dream.

It may take many years, lots of stress, hard work, determination, sweat, and tears-but it will happen. Because my dream is to be an author. I'm already a writer. But I want to do more than put some words to paper (well, words to .docs). I want to share my imagination, my dreams, with other people. I want others to get to learn about the dreams that become my completed manuscripts. And therefore, I hold tight to my dream and I work at it...And it's worth it.

I've immersed myself in a world of other writers, other dreamers who share my dream, and I've seen some of their success. It's a wonderful feeling to watch other's dreams come true and it's inspiring.

Now that I've focused on writers, I want to bring it back to dreams in general. No matter the dream, no matter how impossible or hard the journey to achieve that dream-go for it. Whether your dream is to be a doctor or a teacher, go for it. If you're a writer with a dream to be a published author-go for it. Regardless of how unobtainable a dream may seem, you'll never know if you don't try. Embrace your dreams, your kids' dreams, your family and friends'. Encourage them to hold tight to that dream.

I'm holding tight to mine, because as a writer I know anything is possible. Anything...So dream and know that if you want it, work for it, try your hardest-it will happen. Even if you dream a little too big and it doesn't come true, at least you believed in something.

Happy Dreaming :)

Thoughtful Tuesday - Fame

Today, I've decided to post random thoughts (sort of) that fall under one topic...

Fame

Yep, that's the topic. It's vague, I agree, so let me unvague it(yes, I made that one up :p  ). When I first began blogging, I followed some blogs (and still do) that have tons of followers and comments. I was like, 'Damn, I want that.' It took months for me to even get ten followers. And now I'm up to 134. I still don't get many comments, but I don't get much time to go comment on others, so I can't complain much.

I will read, follow, and comment (when I can) on any blog whether they do the same for me. It just seems like the natural thing to do. I love to support people because that's just my personality. I get off (yes, that's the phrase choice that came to mind :p ) on supporting people. That's why I do my Mention Mondays and my TAG!s, it's even why I do my book reviews on Wednesdays. Supporting others makes me feel good.

I've become such a fan of the self-pub and Indie authors because I've found so many wonderful people and books. They don't get a quarter of the recognition they deserve. There are books out there that are better than Laurell K Hamilton and James Patterson (both of these authors are two of my favorites btw) and yet they don't have half of the fanbase that LKH and JP have. But they DESERVE it.

The Indie and Self-pubbed authors don't boast and brag about their awesomeness, most of them are so humble they don't even realize it, but sadly nowhere near enough other people realize it either. LKH has an FB page and she can post a picture of her dog and get thousands of comments on it. Why? Because she's 'famous'. But does fame make her dog cuter than Author Jane Doe? No, it doesn't. Yet people treat it that way. (Yes, I chose dog pics, but it's just to give an example that demonstrates what I'm saying.)

We live in a world full of celebrities and people are all over those celebs, but I never get it. They're just people. Self-pubbers and Indies are just people too, so what about them? What does it take to get people to see their names? They write wonderfully, they interact with fans and treat them as friends, and they humbly and graciously accept compliments and they're under appreciated.

I'm rambling, sorry :/  But I do have a point...

Fame is measured by the number of people who are willing to recognize the 'celebrity.' I follow several blogs, many of them published authors, and I think they're all famous. Alex J Cavanaugh is famous in my eyes. If I met him I'd be slightly fan-girlish because he's just that awesome. I recently talked about Karen Amanda Hooper (here) and CK Bryant (here). If I met either of them, I'd be a bit fan-girlish there too. These are only three of the awesome people I've had the privilege of getting to know more. And each of them are awesome in their own way, but they're awesome in a special way too. They're my friends even though I've never met them in person (and even if they don't think of me that way :p  ). With Karen and CK, I've exchanged a few emails and Tweets, and every encounter was special to me. With Alex, it's his comments on my blog as well as replies to my comments on his, but every time, it's special. Knowing them, makes me feel like I know some famous people and they all deserve that feeling.

They are famous, even if I don't think enough people realize that. Which now brings me to the point (sorry this has been so long). It's okay to be a fan of someone whose name is EVERYWHERE, someone who has a HUGE fanbase. BUT make sure to recognize the other people who are famous, yet unrecognized. Brag about these under appreciated celebrities, tweet about them, 'like' them, follow them, talk talk talk about them. They deserve as much fame as any other celeb out there, some of them deserve it more. The unrecognized celebrities (especially in the Author industry) DESERVE to be recognized. Spread the word, tell the world, '*Insert name* is AWESOME and everyone should know.'

Now, go tell it!

Happy Thoughts :)

Thoughtful Tuesday

Unfortunately I don't have any random thoughts or poetry for today. I've been busting my ass with revisions and it's taking up all of my creativity and time. I can't think about anything but revising. I manage to squeeze in a little reading here and there, and critiques too.

The only thoughts I have are revise, revise, revise. Then when I'm stuck on that I can't help thinking...I need to get to my blog comments, I need to visit blogs, I need to critique and interact. I'm sorry that I don't have any real thoughts for you today. This is why you don't make a schedule when you have your mind on other things that need to get done.

The book I'm revising right now has been in the revision stage for far too long. And my revisions have ended up being a lot of rewriting. I wanted to be done with the MS in March. When that didn't happen, I set the finish goal for April. Then that didn't happen so I set it for May. Here we are nearing the end of May and I'm nowhere near done. I still have so much work to put into this MS and I want to get it completed, no I will get it completed by the end of June.

In order to do that, I'll have to mess up a little of my blog schedule. I'll still post MWT for sure, but there will be some Tuesdays and probably some Saturdays that I just can't. Hopefully I'll get on schedule soon, but until then...

Happy Tuesday :)

Thoughtful Tuesday

Manuscript

I love you
You inspire me to be
So much more
Than I ever imagined
You bring out everything
In me that makes me great

I hate you
What have you done
Why do you despise me so
You bring me down
Cut me up into pieces
Now it's too late

I'm sorry
I shouldn't have said that
Forgive me
Don't leave
Everything I am
Is what you've made

Balance is key
To our existence
We are nothing apart
Empty shells of what
Could be, equals
Perfect mates.

This poem was inspired by weeks of ups and downs with my revisions. My MS and I have struggled with one another back and forth, good and bad, for a while. This poem has probably been a long time coming. :p

Happy Tuesday :)

Thoughtful Tuesday

(Before I get started with my thoughts today, I want to remind/let you know that I'm having my first GIVEAWAY!!! If you haven't had a chance to go check it out, HERE'S THE LINK. :D  )

I have been working out a new schedule for my blog and I'm still not sure what I want to do.

Originally, M/W were when I pick one topic and break into a series of sorts. Tues was my Thoughtful Tuesday posts. Thursday for my TAGs, Sat for the week wrapped up, and Sunday for book reviews or shout outs/promotions/recommendations of people/books/sites or blogs.

Now, I want to move a few things around. I'm getting more reading time in because my TBR is so huge, I need to read more. By doing that, I have more book reviews which takes away from my shout outs. I don't like not recommending or recognizing people, so I want to have a day just for that.

The set plan is Thoughtful Tuesdays, Thursday TAG!s, and the Saturday week wrapped up will stay. Something Sunday will now be literally Something Sundays. What I mean by that is, if 'something' comes up (like how I did Mother's Day this past Sunday), then I'll talk about it. Other than something specific croping up, Sunday's will be nothing. I love posting everyday except Friday, but I want to make sure my posts are interesting and are being read.

So, here is my new schedule:

Monday: Mention Mondays, where I shout out/recommend/promote a person/blog or site/book.
Tuesday: Thoughtful Tuesdays, which will still be the same-random thoughts &/or a poem.
Wednesday: Weigh In Wednesday, which will be a book review.
Thursday: Thursday TAG!, which is still a Q & A with a writer. (Although, I've been thinking of branching out to do Q&As with interesting people in general (at least interesting people who do something you can follow).
Friday: (No posts on Fridays)
Saturday: Week Wrapped Up and this is still the same. I wrap up my week and throw some thoughts out there about a topic of my week.
Sunday: Something Sunday, but only when there is 'something' I want to talk about that specific day.

(Yeah, the weigh in Wednesday is a little stretch, but all my other titles (aside from Saturday), worked with the letter.)

Anyway, so that's my new schedule. I hope it works out well.

And I'm leaving off with a question, so I can see if I want to rearrange a little more before I set this schedule for sure...

Which day or days do you read blogs? Do you have a specific day or days that you prefer to go around blogs and read/comment on them? Or do you just read a blog when there's a new comment, period?

Happy Tuesday :)

Thoughtful Tuesday

First off, I want to say...YAY! As I write this post (because it's in advance of course) I have 99 followers. That's AWESOME thanks everyone. :)

Okay, now on to my post...

I spent yesterday visiting blogs on the A-Z Reflections Linky List. And spent is the perfect word because I am definitely that. I visited over 60 blogs yesterday and commented on each one. I found that I missed SOOOO many blogs during the challenge. I will still be visiting today and tomorrow.

Which brings me to...no post for Wed or Sat. I've got a TAG! on Thursday and then something very special on Friday (make sure you come back and visit both days, it'll be fun :)  )

I'm currently working out what I will do on Mondays and Wednesdays since my 'To Do' series is over. On Monday I'll announce my new schedule...see you Thursday :)

A big thanks and hello/welcome again to all my new followers and a hello/thanks to all my old ones. I appreciate you all.

Happy Thoughtful Tuesday! :D

And Y'all Thought I'd Take A Break

Nope, couldn't do it. I should, right? I mean, who wants to read more posts the day after the challenge? I don't know, but oh well. Things happening soon...

I'm going to do my first Insecure Writer's Support Group post tomorrow. Come by and check it out :)

Also, I already told you I'd be giving away some books soon. Next week will be the announcement about one, so make sure you come back. ;)

If you missed my U post, please go check it out and help Joshua with his fight. You don't even have to spend any money-tweet about it, post on your Facebook or blog, everything helps. <3

AND if you missed my book review on Sunday-I reviewed Become by Ali Cross and it's AWESOME, check out my review-here. (Just scroll down to Book Review-if you click on the title it will show you the spoilers. You've been warned :)

And one more thing since I haven't done it in a while...

It's All The Same

Love starts with L
Just like lies
Which end in s
As does tears
Which rhymes with fears
Caused by hate
That ends in e
Just like love

Thoughtful Tuesday

This is my new Tuesday title. Every Tuesday will now by a thoughtful one. It will either be a poem or some random things, but thoughtful all the same ;)

Why is time management so important, yet so hard to accomplish?

Am I the only person who thinks that it would be awesome if vampires, werewolves/shape-shifters, telepaths, magical witches, etc were real?

On that subject...why are aliens so facinating to people?

When drivers hit a certain age, they should have to take the driving test again. I honestly think there are some people around 60+ who should never be behind the wheel.

Is there a point to being married to someone whom you barely see and when they are actually at home, you wish they weren't? Especially when the person doesn't contribute to any of the bills, groceries, house/yard work? (For anyone who does not know, I myself am not married and have never been, and am not sure that I ever will be. So this is not about me) I'm just thinking that surely I am not the only person who thinks that is an odd 'marriage'.

Happy Tuesday :)
